The key to success is related to the confidence in one’s ability. Without confidence, an individual cannot perform to his or her potential. Basically, what I am saying is that confidence is the strength of an individual’s belief that he or she can successfully perform a given activity.
As a bodybuilder, previous performance experiences are the most significant source of attributions that affect the development of confidence. For instance, my confidence will be higher if I have performed well in the past.
Another source that develops confidence is visualizing the success of others as they perform a similar task or skill. This latter source may not be as significant as the first, but still attributable. You must understand the fact that even though you see the other athlete successfully performing the skill, you must also believe you have the ability to copy that skill.
Given what we know about the components of confidence and the information needed to change confidence, we can develop strategies to increase our success. From past experience, I have found it necessary, as have other bodybuilders, to record weight, body-fat, and energy levels, in addition to capturing weekly progress photos.
On this page, I will take you with me on my journey to center stage. I will keep you up to date on how I am feeling, my energy level, my workouts, etc. I will also include photos so we can all gauge my progress.
